Fabric & Construction

The Keystone Legacy

During the height of her operatic career, Lelia Barton Chamberlain partnered closely with Keystone Fabrics, a respected textile house known for its precision weaving and theatrical-grade materials.

While Keystone provided fabrication expertise, Lelia’s designs, swatches, and color specifications gave their textiles new depth and dramatic identity.

Through this collaboration, she united her deep knowledge of historical costuming with Keystone’s technical skill to produce fabrics durable enough for opera yet authentic to period style.
Many of the distinctive brocades, jacquards, and trims that defined her productions were born from this partnership — custom-made to her exact requirements of tone, proportion, and stage movement.

Although Casta Diva Stitch to Stage operates independently today, the influence of those collaborations endures.
The Keystone Legacy lives on not as ownership, but as inspiration — a reminder of the synergy between designer and craftsman and the importance of preserving true theatrical materials in a modern age.

Within Casta Diva Inc., that philosophy continues through proprietary fabrics and custom reproductions inspired by Lelia’s early Keystone work.
Each new textile carries forward that same spirit of collaboration — art and craft working together to bring performance to life.

Artistic Integrity & Copyright

At Stitch to Stage, every textile, silhouette, and stitch reflects more than craft—it reflects authorship.

Each fabric in our collection was conceived, digitized, and woven exclusively for Casta Diva Apparel by Lelia Chamberlain, drawing from decades of research in historic opera trims and stage textiles. These works are protected by copyright and remain the intellectual property of Casta Diva Apparel.

For over forty years, Lelia has defended these creations with the same precision and conviction she brings to her designs.
Every motif, every weave, and every garment pattern is catalogued and traceable through our archives.

They cannot be reproduced, photographed, or distributed without written consent

Imitation may be easy, but authenticity is earned.

By safeguarding our materials, we preserve the integrity of the art form itself—ensuring that what appears on stage is not a copy, but a continuation of operatic heritage.
